Eveline Rivers

I signed up our class for a morning at the Eveline Rivers workshop. It will be Saturday, November 15.

The workshop is at 314 S. Jefferson St.

If you can come, we'd love to have a big group! This is probably not the greatest place for toddlers/babies, but we will probably let our 5yo come help out. This workshop is always one of our favorite things to do each Christmas.

Couples Class: We have a get-together planned at David and Gay's on Saturday at 6:00. First half of the alphabet is bringing sides and the last half is bringing desserts.

Girls' Coffee

The girls will meet at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Starbuck's in Barnes & Noble on Soncy. (You don't have to get coffee!) Hope to see you there.

I'm happy to open up this blog to anyone in our class who would like to make posts. If you'll just send me your email address, I'll add you to the list and it will send you an invite. Creating a post is just about as easy as writing an email. Please let me know if you're interested.

Sunday School 6/1/08

We discussed some things that we can do to help Jana and her family. First, remember these dates:

• January 24 - Quinn's birthday
• June 3 - Aubrey's birthday
• July 13 - wedding anniversary
• May 29 - the date of the accident
• September 11 - Jana's birthday
• Also, Father's day is coming up on June 15.

The funeral home (Cox-LaGrone) is open today from noon - 9:00. It will be open tomorrow until noon.

If you are using church childcare for the funeral (YA2 kids only), please bring a sack lunch for your child.

If you are bringing food for the family, we are expecting 100 people. Please label your dish and plan for it to feed 10-15 people. Remember to try to have some kid-friendly dishes.

Setup begins at 11:00. Please have your food there by 11:30. The family will be eating from 12:00 - 1:30.

Corrie Royal is putting together a video for the family. Please email her any stories or photos.

Please pray for Jana, Aubrey, and the baby, as well as Quinn's parents and the extended family. Please pray for Howie as he prepares for the funeral tomorrow.

Howie talked to us about some do's and don't's to help with the grieving process:

• DO establish a "ministry of presence."
• DO help with practical tasks.
• DO NOT minimize their loss in any way.
• It is best to say nothing if you can't think of anything to say. Just be present for them.

Party on March 7

We're having a Sunday school party in the FLC Blue Room on March 7 from 6:30 - 8:30. The cost is $5 per couple, and will include pizza. Please bring the babies and kids!

Amazing Love scholarship

Someone has given a generous scholarship to our ladies in YA2! For those of you who would like to attend Saturday's Amazing Love event, featuring Lisa Lawless and music by Krystal Haase and Krystal Hare -- your registration is FREE! That's right, FREE, but there's a catch.

You must notify Brenda McDearmon by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, if you would like to attend.

YA2 will be seated together, and you will have a chance to enjoy a great seminar and a delicious lunch. The event begins at 9:30 and ends at 2:00. Child care is available. Notify Elaine Clark at 373-2891 if you need a reservation, and remember to bring a sack lunch for your child.

Announcements

• The Jim Denison sermon series begins tonight at 6:30; you won't want to miss it!
• Today is Undie Sunday, so if you have purchased socks or undies, please get them in the laundry baskets in the hallways today.
• We are planning to have a "Baby Celebration" party to celebrate the baby boom in our class. We are going to have a Sunday school party at the FLC, including the blue room and the tunnels. It will be $5 per family to cover pizza, and drinks and dessert will be provided. We want to see those babies and kiddos! Check back for the date.
• VBS is looking for workers; contact the church office.
• The church is looking for shuttle bus drivers for Sunday mornings; please contact the church office if you're interested.
